Hey y'all,
Sorry for a misleading title, but how it sounds in comparison to my recents points is fine.
Today I'd like to discuss one of my favorite things: Lofi.
A few years back, I couldn't work with music on, no matter what. I would hear people play all sorts of music as they worked. I also ehard people with ADHD really benefitted from working with music going. So, I used that point as a major reasoning why I didn't have it. Now I'm not too sure.
Then I discovered lofi. To be honest. I listen to it 9/10 times I'm writing or working in any capacity. I don't listen to music when I'm actually working though as I often find it too distracting then.
I really just want a calm night soon though. A time where I can shut off all the lights, put on some calm lofi playlist and just...breathe. It's a super easy ask, but my mind moves at a million miles a minute making those moments hard and rare. But that's why they're important too.
My favorite way to listen is Lofi Girl on YouTube. I love the music on there and in 2024 they released a bunch of diferent playlists. (I just wish they brought back their medieval live broadcast.)
Depending on my mood, I'll choose different videos to match, or counteract my vibes. Sometimes I get addicted to one live show for a week or two and exclusively listen to that one. But typically I bounce around, even throwing in old finished compilations into the mix.
So, lofi helps me calm down. It keeps my feet on the ground and my head from the clouds. But it can also focus my thinking as well.
As a bit of a reward for reading this I'll give a short update. I am warming up more and more to the idea of AI art again. But I need to be slow and not just rush into it an regret it all later. I do believe the future will continue to elevate the importance of AI, I suspect in a few years a popular story will come out all created by AI. I don't see it happening for a little while, so I'm not in huge danger for a bit. But these programs have already gotten pretty good at generating concepts, I've played around with it a bit myself. Now they're learning to think and search the web for intricate details. AI art is becoming a secondary topic in the AI game.
My real update is this though: I'm going to create a comprenhensive blog post just with the concept art I've published in these blogs. It'll get it back out there and give me some time to create the best webpage to put it all on. I use Wix to create this website, but I've found their methods for posting mass amounts of art to be lackluster.
This may come this weekend, or maybe sometime in March. I hate when the authors I read are fickle on dates, but I need to gave myself space to breathe. I'm still learning to back off of myself and not be overbearing.
With the topic of lofi, I thought I'd post some Demise concept art. (The MC for Demise loves lofi too! It's a major part of his personality and story.) I know that book is still coming, but I want to share an important image.

Looks a bit like Times Square, doesn't it?
That's the point. This is Downtown Ning, the perfect view of the city and Ngash looming beyond.
The story of Demise takes place in the future, in comparison to Origins in the past and Foundations in the present. So, what's more futuristic than space travel and living on other planets?
I have a lot of kinks to iron out about Ning, and Demise as a whole. But this scene is perfect! I know whatever Ning becomes in the future, this scene with a downtown cityscape and the looming planet will be foundational.
There's a lot of clear AI flaws in this art, but that's okay. It's not official. I'm thinking the cover art for Demise will be something real similar to this, so then we'll get some proper concept art. But for now this is one of the best images I've got.
Hope today's post was short and digestable.
Just remember, calm down and breathe...
